The Synty Timeline
A history of Synty Studios. A timeline of their pack launches from Simple Town through to today. Below you’ll find a journey of Synty’s packs with a brief outline of each and major milestones marked along the way.
Jul 2014
Synty Founded
Synty was founded over a weekend in July 2014 when it’s two creators Andrew Stairs and Mike Clephane created Simple Town.
It was a neat, clean ultra low poly set of assets, the first of the SIMPLE Series. It had a lot of variety and personality. Showcasing their combined experience in game dev, cinema pre viz and art skills. At the time they thought it was a nice chance for some side income. The big question is, did they ever think Synty would become what it is today? Did they foresee the powerhouse they would become on the global indie scene?
Interestingly the Simple Town created over that weekend is no longer available. They expanded and rebuilt some of the pack in 2015 and replaced it everywhere.Â

POLYGON Adventure
2017 saw the launch of a brand new world for Synty Studios – POLYGON.
A new higher detailed, higher definition series built around a unique style, a modular approach where possible and a texture style focused on flat colours, letting the models do the work to define shape.
It introduced us to the “Synty Dent” and their unique take on the faceted style that would take over asset stores over time.
POLYGON Adventure is a semi modular chunk based village and town system of stone/adobe buildings in multiple stories, a landscape of mountains, hills and rivers, along with a small marketplace.Â
17 March 2017
POLYGON Knights
POLYGON Knights expanded on the chunk based building system from Adventure and broke buildings into more distinct pieces, Buildings came in pieces representing floors just like Adventure, but also added in towers, roof pieces, even doors and windows as separate modular attachments. Buildings are assembled from overlapping pieces and come without interiors.
It contains medieval houses, a castle and wall system, graveyard, tents and a selection of characters.
April 7 2017
POLYGON Vikings
A rich viking themed pack containing snow and non snow versions of the assets. Vikings continues the chunk based building system like Adventure with buildings and their roofs being separate components. There’s an included wall and tower system, boats, trees and a large selection of terrain pieces from mountains and ground tiles, to ice floes and icebergs.
16 May 2017
POLYGON Samurai
A pack set in feudal Japan with modular block based structures for both houses and temples. It contains a range of characters, weapons, props and snow covered versions of many assets. There’s an extensive number of landscape props, cherry blossom trees and a Mt Fuji to use as a background element.
16 June 2017
POLYGON Pirates
An extensive pack containing 3 distinct sets of pieces for buildings. With the pirate/wooden structures, the ornate stone structures for the opposition and a modular fort style. All 3 styles come in modular chunks and have texture variants. There’s a variety of ships/boats with modular pieces like cannons, props etc, including broken versions as shipwrecks.Â
There’s a variety of flora, modular terrain pieces including cliffs and a skull cave, and a fully rigged shark (no animations).
26 June 2017
POLYGON City
A modular exterior city made of block sized chunks (each floor of a building is a single mesh). It comes with an impressive number of road tiles to cover a huge number of grid based possibilities and a couple of non modular buildings. You’ll find residential apartments in different styles (and corner blocks), a city hall, office buildings, modular roads and footpaths/sidewalks, a path system to build parks and a small section of flora. All the expected props are present from traffic lights, bins, large building signs, even a hot dog cart and a large range of vehicles.
3 August 2017
Synty Store
August 2017 saw Synty launch their own store for the first time. Originally a subdomain on the SyntyStudios website instead of it’s own domain, the Synty store offered the Unity, Unreal and source files in one purchase.
17 August 2017
POLYGON Fantasy Characters
Syntys first character based pack. Focused on expanding out characters for an existing theme, and a few props/accessories, but no buildings etc. Fantasy Characters added in 12 brand characters in the theme ranging from a witch and bearded wizard to peasants and an adventurer, with a bunch of colour variants for them (including skin tones). There are 15 props included ranging from weapons to a book (open and closed states) and a lute.
1 September 2017
POLYGON Heist
A single locations modular pack, and the first to use separate walls, floors and ceilings. Contains props and interior elements to build a bank or jewellery store including vaults, counters and display cases. Building exteriors are included with exterior walls and windows in different styles, along with some footpath/sidewalk pieces and stairs.
Characters are non modular, but the villian characters have modular hairpieces allowing their hair to be disabled and use masks/helmets.
This pack tested and tried out a bunch of new ideas not seen in the packs before it.
26 October 2017
POLYGON Dungeon
Dungeons is a large modular pack with an incredible range of content. The core of the pack is a modular wall and floor system with a large range of stone patterns and layouts. Modular pieces use a different pivot point and contain many detailed elements including doubled sides walls with thickness, and stairs for verticality. Separate modular systems enable modular cave layouts (with crystal variants), collapsed mines, forges and tool making, a system of bridges and wooden structures.
It contains goblin enemies, ghosts (with a custom shader), a range of weapons, a tonne of bonus goodies like mushrooms, flora, enormous skeletons, stones with runes, pillars, dungeon traps and more.
For the 9th pack launched, POLYGON Dungeon was a massive pack for Synty and was their second foray into fully modular structures and sub themes within a pack. It exceeded the previous POLYGON packs in leaps and bounds.
10 January 2018
POLYGON City Characters
Syntys second step into a character pack. This time much more specific and pairing with the CIty pack. It contains 19 characters with the same texture and skin tone variants as the fantasy characters.
These non modular characters dont allow any customisation of hats/hair etc but have a small amount of variety in body shapes. Pack contains both male and female presenting characters and a huge amount of range in personal style. Fast food workers, fireman, gamers, hipsters, punks, and a fast food mascot.
13 January 2018
POLYGON War
A world war 2 pack covering both battlefields and a French countryside town. It contains non modular buildings in damaged and non damaged versions, with several buildings existing in both states. It also contains modular chunk based buildings to add further range. Bunkers, pillboxes and military tents are included. Along with a large variety of terrain pieces, including roads and modular trenches.
Vehicles cover the range from ships and landing boats, through to a selection of aircraft and ground vehicles (armoured and unarmoured).
Characters cover generic soldiers and civilians and several specific characters from WWII including 3 major world leaders (Allies and Axis).
9 March 2018
POLYGON Western
A wild west pack featuring a small western/gold rush town and an extensive desert environment including arches, mesas etc.
There’s a moderate selection of buildings covering all the standard western tropes, all with full interiors. A large corner block saloon with a multi story interior is the star of the show. Additionally modular pieces are included to make additional buildings, matching the style/scale of the Heist pack.
Props cover everything from the saloon to a small market stand. And a range of characters are included for both men and women, including the sheriff. Male characters come in both standard western varieties (moustache or glasses).
20 March 2018
POLYGON MINI – FantasyÂ
This was a brand new pack, in a unique style. POLYGON Mini represents a new style closer to the SIMPLE series, but in POLYGON style. It’s lower polycounts and exaggerated features are more aimed to be cute.
Mini Fantasy is a bit of a misnomer as it contains elements from Knights, Adventure, Pirates, Vikings, Western and Samurai. All of the themes are represented in a world of cute tiles that lock together. It’s designed to be used for mobile titles, virtual board games and minimaps.
The texture variants have a unique approach here with a set of “team colours” that leave most of the texture sheet unchanged and alter the colour of select elements to each of 5 teams.
20 April 2018
POLYGON Sci Fi City
Sci Fi City brought in a new level of detail not shown in the previous packs. Whether it was a deliberate shift, or just a consequence of the theme remains to be seen. There’s an extensive range of buildings in 3 styles.Â
Non modular structures to use as is (no interiors), modular block based pieces in a uniform size (including 3 ground floor variants with interior), and semi modular block based pieces for background buildings. A couple of “hero” buildings are present with interiors, two of which contain a full interior layout.Â
The pack includes a large variety of vehicles, with moving parts (doors, thrusters etc) and a modular wall system. There’s a large range of characters included and the pack makes extensive use of emissive masks for the materials, and an innovative shader utilising UV scrolling to make neon elements flash in various sequences.Â
1 June 2018
POLYGON Fantasy Rivals
Syntys next character pack, and the introduction of the BigRig.
BigRig is a modified Synty skeleton with broader shoulders and an overall change in dimensions to make sturdier looking characters. Fantasy Rivals contains 20 unique characters, each with their own weapon. They run the gamut from multi armed gods, to mechanical monstrosities and stone golems. Texture variants for each allow a lot of variety, and there’s lots of smart trickery to animate additional “limbs” such as on an Indian god, or snakes on Medusa’s head.Â
These “hero” characters contain a large amount of detail and provide an extensive range of characters to add to a game. All of them are humanoid in shape.
21 June 2018
POLYGON Nature
Polygon Nature was a brand new approach for a bunch of things from Synty. It’s the first appearance of the hybrid trees (textured transparent planes instead of solid blobs) and of the terrain textures. It contains both hybrid and blob trees, along with bushes, flowers and textures to use for grass and reeds (with and without normal maps/shading baked into them).
It contains modular polygon ground pieces if a terrain isn’t being used, and a selection of “bonus” props in the form of a bridge, fences, stone ruins, signposts and crates.
A custom vegetation shader was supplied to handle the double sided leaves, along with colour tinting and wind effects.
24 July 2018
POLYGON Mini Fantasy Characters
Inheriting it’s misnamed title from the Mini Fantasy pack, this character pack contains MINI versions of selected characters from Dungeon, Western, Knights, Adventure, Samurai and Pirates.
The mini characters have 30-40% less polys than their POLYGON counterparts, exaggerated proportions and oversized heads. This unexpectedly large pack contains 60 characters in total, with alternative texture colours, and the same team colour system as the MINI Fantasy pack.Â
A selection of weapons and handheld props is included.
10 August 2018
POLYGON Town
Polygon Town was the first fully modular pack with a detailed building system, It uses a consistent grid for fully modular houses including internal and external walls, and separate walls for upper and lower floors allowing to build on a consistent grid size with foundations included (the foundation sits below the pivot point). These buildings include interiors with staircases, and an extensive suburban prop library. A gas station/service station is included and a selection of vehicles and characters.Â
A small selection of prefabbed non modular buildings is included. Ranging from houses, to suburban shops and a church. Outdoor props include pools, plants and trees (blob style), and a comprehensive path and park system. Roads are more limited, but include a gentle corner with matching footpath to fill a 2×2 section of grid.
Fun Fact: Street signs exist for all 3 team members. Mike Way, Justin Blvd and Andrew Ave.
20 September 2018
POLYGON Battle Royale
The Battle Royale pack is a neat little “kit” style pack that contains a bunch of elements that pair perfectly together. The core of the pack is 15 unique characters with distinct appearances (soldier, woman in a bra, man in business suit) and 60 helmets/masks to decorate them with.
There’s 10 combat/military vehicles included, along with damaged versions of them.
19 ranged weapons are included, unwrapped differently to the normal synty style to allow weapon skins to be applied. 28 skins are included, and more can be easily created.
Rounding out the pack is a sample of wooden structures, simplified buildings, shipping containers etc to build a small course ala paintball.
A standard “battle royale death zone” is included with a custom shader.
5 October 2018
POLYGON Explorer Kit
The first of the kits released by Synty. A style of pack with just a few elements in it on a small theme. Each of them is intended to be a small addition to one or more previous packs.
Explorer Kit is a little miniature pack of 2 characters, a vehicle (with several colour schemes) and a small sea of props. The explorer kit lets you easily transform older packs like Adventure or Dungeon into a tomb being explored in a modern world.
The little vehicle in this kit is unwrapped flat instead of compressed UVs, allowing a muddy version to be used. With each of the 4 colours having clean and muddy versions.Â
The characters have modular hair with modified meshes provided to use when their hat is on.
13 October 2018
POLYGON Western Frontier
Western Frontier was Synty’s first official “sequel” pack with a clear link to the Western pack. It adds in a new set of non modular buildings, two modular wall/fence systems and characters representing Native Americans as well Mexican characters to extend the Western theme into both of its major groups of “locals”.Â
It also adds in a large number of carts and an extensive mine system including tracks for carts.
Environment elements include more cliff faces for quarries, modular desert roads and a variety of trees, cactuses and desert flora.
30 October 2018
POLYGON City Zombies
Synty’s next character pack brings to undeath, all of the characters from both the City pack and City Characters pack (50 in total). With undead zombie versions of those characters, and new undead characters not included in packs previously. The first pack to include a jaw bone allowing characters to open their gaping maws, it also includes a custom shader allowing the characters to be covered in blood, slime etc.
A small selection of weapons is included as well as unrigged limb parts to use as debris/gibs.
11 December 2018
POLYGON Snow Kit
Synty rounded out 2018 with their second kit, taking everyone to the snow.
The pack included 2 characters, a range of snow accessories like a toboggan, sleds, snow mobile and a range of helmets, goggles and sports cameras.
Skis and snowboards are included, with a detailed skin system like Battle Royale allowing you to mix it up easily.
No terrain tiles are included as per the Explorer kit, but several ski jumps are supplied to embed in a terrain or use with other kits. A modular ski lift system is included ready to use with splines for cables.
16 January 2019
POLYGON Prototype
The prototype pack came out to help gamedevs get started and contains a comprehensive set of primitive shapes, prefabbed elements like doors and walls, along with cubes, hud icons and even 3d post it notes to mark points in the level needing work, at pass etc.
It includes several vehicles, models for things like cameras, FPS hands, and “naked” mannequins to represent characters. These come in rigged and ready to pose options, along with preposed mannequins to simply place in the world. A bunch of weapons and small props are included to use as placeholders.
The star of the pack is a set of worldspace grid shaders used to render a universal grid over everything to make prototyping seamless.
30 January 2019
POLYGON Mini City
The next addition to the MINI series brought in POLYGON City and Town with scaled down extra cute versions of a bunch of it’s key buildings, including the city hall. It has a bunch of cute scale props and street items (including the hot dog cart and food signs) as well as square and hex tiles of the roads and streets.
All of the vehicles have been turned MINI and it includes MINI specific elements like coins and 3d minimap markers.
This pack contains no characters.
31 January 2019
POLYGON Mini City Characters
Coming just a day later, the MINI city characters brings 37 characters from both the Town and City packs to life in mini style with their texture alts, comically sized heads and lower detail frames. It’s a comprehensive pack of people with that distinct MINI style.
14 February 2019
POLYGON Sci Fi Space
Synty has left the atmosphere with Sci Fi Space taking you off into space with an incredible level of detail. The pack includes large capital ships and space stations with a huge level of detail, a bunch of custom shaders for POLYGON style distant planets, or even ships with gorgeous rim lighting.
There’s several separate modular systems including a modular wall and floor system reminiscent of POLYGON Dungeon to build interiors, and a modular parts system to build ships and vehicles with.Â
It includes a large number of turrets (20 all up), a range of missiles, shields and melee weapons and a bunch of FX including particle system asteroid fields, holograms and warp effects.
A large selection of characters is included, all humanoid, but containing aliens, power armour and several BigRig characters for extra bulk.
A first person cockpit is included for FPS/VR use and a large comprehensive starship bridge. The capital ships and space stations have no interiors and are intended to use a cut scene/fade to enter the modular interiors.
6 April 2019
POLYGON Dungeons Map
The Dungeons Map was a whole new pack type for Synty. Map packs add a small number of additional assets and provide new demo scenes. They contain no textures and require the original pack for the textures to appear and to populate the demo scene.
Dungeons map adds in a bunch of bookcases, books, loose papers and suits of armour along with a small circular balcony area.
The pack also provides a bunch of newly designed rooms showing what you can do with the Dungeons pack, including an enormous library, a new arena for a boss fight and an elaborate multi story staircase maze.
12 April 2019
POLYGON Spy Kit
The Spy kit feels like a revisiting of the Explorers kit in great detail.
Both packs feature a vehicle with a unique twist, a male and female character and a selection of props (including a podium).
The Spy Kit features one of Synty’s most elaborate vehicles at this point in the timeline with opening doors, hidden weapons behind the headlights, inside the hood, the roof, and even a rotating number plate system that really works. Tossed in to round out the pack are some spy gadgets, a handful of weapons including explosives and a quad copter camera drone.
16 April 2019
POLYGON Modular Fantasy Heroes
Modular Fantasy Heroes is a pack that launched with a huge amount of work behind it. It consists of a complex set of body parts separated into torso, lower body, lower legs (left and right), upper and lower arms, and head.
It has modular hair, helms and hats, with the latter divided into categories to indicate whether you need to disable the hair, or facial hair when using it.
It came with a mask based shader allowing realtime modification of the colours, with all assets divided into texture properties for the primary surface, leather, metal etc
With over 700 pieces there’s a huge number of combinations covering everything from armour to fur to peasant clothing. A small selection of weapons and shields was included as well. All the pieces are designed to fit together and any torso can be used with any arms etc.
Additionally, all of the pieces are supplied as unskinned versions ready to use for inventory systems, generating icons etc

POLYGON Apocalypse
Synty’s first MEGA pack smashed out of the gates with parts of it a piece for piece recreation of the much loved SIMPLE Apocalypse. POLYGON Apocalypse contains an enormous number of pieces ranging from houses, shops, industrial and office buildings, all with enterable interiors (non modular). It’s an enormous pack with more buildings than anything before it. From there it continues with a modular bunker system (perfect for sideview colony sims), a completely modular quarantine wall system, and a modular weapons system made of a huge number of junk parts, with perfectly placed pivots ready to join together in many different ways.
There’s a large selection of vehicles and a completely modular weapons and attachment system to decorate them, and the vehicles from any other pack.
It contains a large number of ground tiles effectively covering damaged and broken down versions of tiles found in Town and City. A wrecked ship, highway overpasses, military tents/refugee compounds and a couple of custom shaders (including triplanar grime for the first time) round out an extraordinary pack.
And, this is the pack with the bear in it.
6 November 2019
POLYGON Starter Pack
The starter pack is the first free POLYGON Series pack. It contains a small selection of pieces, mostly from Prototype, and a house from POLYGON Town with the UVs changed, and a few custom created ones, including some unique people from POLYGON MINI turned into capsules.
9 January 2020
POLYGON Office
POLYGON Office is a pack absolutely bursting at the seams with props (over 600 of them) covering almost everything you’d want in an office environment. It’s the perfect companion for something like POLYGON City to provide the interior of the buildings you’d transition into.
POLYGON Office introduced a new modular building system that placed pieces on the inside edge of a 2.5m grid instead of overlapping it. The two opposite sides of a wall are placed as separate game objects allowing them to be combined in tens of thousand of combinations.
It contains everything you’d want to place onto desks as well as all the expected office props, including foliage, a particle driven fish tank, and things for parties, pool tables and multiple xmas trees. Some exteriors are included so you can slot right in. There’s a bunch of characters in both sexes, from office workers to security staff and cleaning crew.
The pieces in POLYGON Office are used in the interior shots of POLYGON Kids to create the school
20 March 2020
POLYGON Fantasy Kingdom
Coming just 6 months after Apocalypse, Syntys next mega pack set a whole new standard in modularity and laid the groundwork for systems and changes they would improve later on.
Fantasy Kingdom contains an incredible array of modular pieces in 2 different grid sizes for both castles/keeps and medieval houses. An incredible variety of each covering everything from doorways to windows to mix things up. Castles fit together in an elaborate structure that covers seams, adds verticality and 3d depth, decoration and detail. Textures in Fantasy Kingdom included some of the first full sheet images to wrap around parts (stone walls and roof tiles) with normal maps to support them. It included a rich variety of props and accessories from a marketplace, to crafting and professions, housing, army training and more.
To date it’s the only Synty pack to get any additions post launch. With a bunch of content produced on a livestream to celebrate the packs nomination on the asset store.
It was later used as the technical showcase for Unity 6’s new features with a modified and expanded demo scene.
20 May 2020
POLYGON Construction
POLYGON Construction is a smaller pack that hides all of the detailed work that went into it. The props are often more detailed than in other packs with a lot of detail into small pieces like tools to make them look like the real thing. It comes with a lot of varieties of many props. Things like multiple stacks of lumber and bricks etc.
The peek behind the curtain look creates complex geometry for interior frames on walls, concrete rebar etc.
The piece de resistance of the pack is the sampling of construction vehicles all in a “ready to use” state. With interiors, wheels and levers ready to move, complex interlocking parts with pivot points and separated pieces ready to control, this pack is one of the most complex Synty had built to date.Â
It included a secondary demo scene that referenced the prefabs in POLYGON City to add a construction site into that demo map if both packs were installed.
25 May 2020
POLYGON Particle FX
The particle effects pack came out of nowhere as a bit of a surprise and treading new ground for Synty. All of their previous packs had included a few particle effects to show smoke, fog, sparks, fire etc but people had asked for more. So Synty stepped up and made this complex, expansive pack to meet people’s needs.
The pack contains 180 different particle effects (including a couple of slightly reused ones) that run the gamut from environment and weather effects, weapons, damage, powerups, complex magical effects that trace across the ground, to portals and magical powers that react to the environment.
Showing off their expertise in Unity Shuriken and their background in VFX the Particle FX pack is a master class in complex particle systems and how far Unity’s particle effects can push in talented hands.
Whether it’s smoke, fire, rain, gunfire, artillery or magic, there isn’t a unity user out there who shouldn’t buy this pack and dismantle it piece by piece to learn from.
10 June 2020
POLYGON War Map WW1
The next map pack to come out expands on POLYGON War. This pack adds in a small set of additional vehicles (ground and air) and a whole new set of modular trenches. 2 characters are supplied with a selection of hats and helmets for them. Like the Dungeons Map pack, this requires it’s parent pack to function in any way as it contains no textures, and the majority of the demo scene uses pieces from the other pack.
Much like it’s dungeon predecessor, War Map WW1 provides a nice additional set of functionality to an existing pack at an incredibly cheap price.Â
29 June 2020
 POLYGON Boss Zombies
The next character pack is a spiritual successor to POLYGON Fantasy Rivals with 4 epic scale zombie bosses included. All 4 characters carry a higher polygon count than characters in packs traditionally do, with a large set of props and accessories included. 3 of the characters use the BigRig for the broad shoulders and solid stature, and all of them have a large amount of detail and intricate folds, attached accessories etc.Â
A custom shader is included to add blood splatters to the zombies on demand.
4 August 2020
POLYGON Military
Continuing the streak of MEGA packs coming out in close succession, POLYGON Military brings the war series into the modern age with a pack focused on modern warfare and the Middle East. It takes pages from the book of Polygon Apocalypse and once again contains a large number of non modular buildings with full interiors for each. A large number of military vehicles (ground and air) are included as well as everything needed to build bases and outposts.Â
It includes a large array of weapons parts for a comprehensive modern day modular weapon system to be snapped together on demand and recreate many weapons.
An oil refinery is included with modular pipes and a large number of terrain tiles and polygon blob flora for a desert environment.
POLYGON Military brought it’s own semi modular character system with an extensive set of snap on facial hair, hair, accessories and props, masks and helmets etc
27 October 2020
POLYGON Kids
The Kids pack is the most comprehensive character pack Synty have released to date. It contains 100 unique kid models on a new sized rig, to cover off all of the existing themes and packs Synty had released to date. Everything from medieval to sci fi, modern day, kids in costumes.
Additionally it included a huge number (literally hundreds) of hair styles, hats and accessories (including clip on tails and backpacks).
The pack rounded out with a tree house, modular skate park and playground equipment.
POLYGON Kids introduced a facial expression and emotion system based on textures and a transparent faceplate. Synty supplied a range of emotions, and phonemes for speech. A later free pack supplied adult sized faceplates to use these textures on characters from other packs.
16 February 2021
POLYGON Dungeon Realms
Slightly smaller than the other MEGA packs, and priced to match, Dungeon Realms expands on the POLYGON Dungeons theme with 3 new factions/styles included in a single pack.
A rich Dwarven area of carved stone and machinery, a terrifying hellscape, and the surface dwelling desert nomads.
Each of the factions has unique elements and environment props with personality and detail, and characters to match. Characters have a large variety of attachments and accessories, including helms, hats and hairdos. Included are a couple of BigRig characters (sturdy dwarves and a large demon boss). 4 comprehensive demo scenes are included showing how the different factions and pieces fit together.
10 May 2021
POLYGON Street Racer
Street Racer was the first pack to feel like it covered off two related but unrelated themes in one.
It contains a whole new approach to cars with Synty introducing a whole new style of modular and customisable vehicles made of many pieces. Cars and motorbikes are both included with optional accessories, replacement panels, alternate wheels etc.
The environment supplied is a port/loading dock including multiple ships, industrial vehicles, containers and large stacks of logs and barrels.
A small set of buildings is included, all of them detailed with full interiors. The pack is worth it for people looking for either the vehicles or the industrial port, and incredible value for anyone using both.
FX included for the pack include things like boosters and powerups for a racing game.
5 July 2021
POLYGON Shops
POLYGON Shops introduced Synty’s all new modular building system Build 2.0 (details here) with a comprehensive new system designed to optimise performance and cross compatibility between future packs. It’s consistent grid, baseline pieces and full sheet textures allowed for a huge range of pieces and variety.Â
Polygon Shops is an enormous expansive pack with pieces covering both indoor and outdoor structures, ranging from a mall to fast food restaurants. It contains an absolutely enormous number of props for a huge variety of stores, multiple caravans/food trucks for an outdoor area and a bunch of food props for modularity from burgers, to tacos and pizza.
On top of introducing Build 2.0 Shops is a MEGA pack with it’s sheer prop count, enormous number of textures and high level of detail ready for VR.
1 November 2021
POLYGON Sci Fi Worlds
The MEGA pack that tops them all. Sci Fi Worlds drifted away from the modular style to instead focus on style. It contains 3 entirely separate factions, each with a distinct visual style that carries across props, vehicles, buildings and the environment.
A staggeringly large pack, Sci Fi Worlds contains a custom colour changing shader, modular systems for pipes (in 2 styles), fortress walls, and habitats.
It contains a phenomenal range of movement with some of the most complex pieces Synty have ever built. Vehicles, drills, satellite dishes and more are made of separate pieces ready to move, adjust, scale and rotate. There are drills made of 30+ pieces ready to adjust their modular feet, align to terrain and rotate on 4 different axes at once.
The pack includes 4 extensive demo scenes to showcase each of the 3 factions and an incredibly detailed “Black Market” built into an enormous asteroid.
Sci Fi Worlds makes extensive use of normal maps and a rich texture style to bring in microdetails across models. It has a large number of buildings that could not exist in a modular system, all with full interiors, ranging from small habitats to enormous control towers. Sci Fi Worlds had a long development process, and was the first pack to be heavily concepted before production.

POLYGON Nature Biomes
Season 1
Nature Biomes was a new style for Synty expanding on their hybrid tree designs from POLYGON Nature 4 years earlier. Nature Biomes consists of a core set of shaders, materials and design principles to bring to life a range of new biomes. A complex shader utilising vertex colours to separate parts of the mesh allows full resolution textures to be used separately to render leaves and trunks.
The nature biomes use a slightly more cartoony texture style than older packs and provide full LODs for trees, bushes, and detailed prefabs for ground clutter and grass coverage.
Season 1 consists of 3 packs, each covering two side by side themes and a broad range of content. The Nature biomes is rich, stylised and incredibly beautiful.Â
